In a publication by X (formerly Twitter) of the Secretariat of Civil protection of the Government of the State of Veracruzreported that a strong fire broke out in a refinery in Minatitlán, located in the State of Veracruz.

According to local reports, the affected refinery is the one called “Lázaro Cárdenas”; It is presumed that the fire was due to an explosion of sparks due to welding in contact with oils in area 6 of the reconfiguration of the factory.
According to the agency, firefighting elements from Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) carried out work to mitigate the fire, at the same time, the elements They carried out control and rescue work.
At the time, the company clarified that three employees had suffered burns and one more had a sprain while trying to leave the place were the events occurred.
With this incident, there are two in less than a week. The other occurred last Tuesday,at the Antonio Dovalí refinery,located in Salina Cruz,Oaxaca,a plant that a month ago was engulfed in flames and workers from a subcontractor company lost thier lives.
In April of this year, an explosion occurred at the Minatitlán refinery, where no people were injured. And a year earlier, in May 2023, four workers at the Lázaro Cárdenas refinery were injured due to a conflagration that broke out at the plant.
