On October 26th it will premiere in the La Fundicion Theater of Sevilla, Fireworks – fire worksby the hand of Maria Cazenave. I’m talking to you about one of the pieces that have made up the programming of this Sevillian theater, a place that is full of surprises and curiosities.

In recent years there has been growing acceptance and interest in what has been called “autofiction”. Opening a field for contemporary creators to explore other ways of representing the world, while facing a context that encourages them to know themselves better. Let’s start from the base that if one chooses to tell something that is nourished by personal experiences and reflections, then it is a matter of time for the process of human self-knowledge to lead us to situations that need to be studied and overcome, so that in a One way or another, we will come across again that our personal history challenges everyone. At this point, I prefer to give way to the synopsis Fireworks -fire works-because it is up to María Cazenave (original idea, performer, direction and dramaturgy) and Ricardo Mena Rosado (direction and dramaturgy) to take their “turn to speak”:

It is a dance theater and autofiction humor project. The interpreter presents us with a thunderous, vehement adult figure, so “strong that she breaks”; she breaks into contrasts and passions. She is afraid of disappearing.
He doesn’t want to slow down to keep up with others.
Through the incarnation of circumstances and characters that marked the life of the protagonist, the piece touches laughter and laughter. A filly tied up under the sun, a stuffed animal from the past, a tender and injured dog… the public attends a kind of wild ceremony where she and these characters appear to purge themselves of her. They have things to say, wounds to heal and burn, and fire works.

ABOUT THE WORK

To create the main thread of the dramaturgy (still in constant research), the director and the performer rely on María’s narrative project; The Filly. These autobiographical texts comprise a turbulent period for the interpreter, in which, in addition to anxious loves and dramas, she witnesses the disappearance of a woman in the town where she lives on the Mexican Pacific coast.
He is also afraid of disappearing. To disappear in many ways. Either in pieces or let pieces of it die. And along with this fear, helplessness and anger; rebellion in hostile territory. How many times have I had to disappear, turn off to be in your company? How many times has my fire burned you and I had to turn into embers?
