RANTAUPRAPAT, Waspada.co.id – The Labuhanbatu Regency General Election Commission (KPU) held its first public debate for three pairs of candidates for Regent and Deputy Regent of Labuhanbatu for the 2024-2029 period in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections in the Suzuya Hotel Rantauprapat Ballroom, North Rantau District, Monday (28/10).
A total of three pairs of candidates are confirmed to be competing in the 2024 Regional Election contestants. The three are, number 1 Faizal Amri Siregar and Raja Fanny Fatahilah (Faja), number 2 Maya Hasmita and Jamri (Mari), then number 3 Hendri Syahputra Daulay and Ellya Rosa Siregar (Hero).
In this inaugural debate, the three pairs of candidates were given the opportunity to convey their vision and mission, then answer questions from the panelists by each pair of candidates. The panelists took questions, then they were read by two moderators who led the public debate.
What programs will you prioritize for the welfare of the community, if you are elected as Regent and Deputy Regent of Labuhanbatu? asked the two moderators. The three pairs of candidates were given 60 seconds to answer the panelists’ questions.

Candidate pair number 2 Maya Hasmita and Jamri were given the first opportunity, they promised to improve welfare by building community work training centers, improving the MSME sector, providing financial injections, and providing training in the community.
“We will create a community work training center, improve MSMEs, provide financial injections, provide promotions through graphic design at the national level, and provide training to build villages and organize cities,” said Maya Hasmita.
Meanwhile, candidate pair number 3, who was attended by the Candidate for Deputy Regent of Labuhanbatu, Ellya Rosa Siregar, said that her party promised a free BPJS program for the community, providing birth certificates to babies, increasing MSMEs, and establishing a stunting reduction program.
“Our main program is to make BPJS free, the second program will make birth certificates, so after giving birth the baby immediately gets a certificate, then increase MSMEs, and form a stunting program which is currently declining,” said Ellya Rosa.
Not wanting to be outdone by their two political opponents, candidate pair number 1 Faizal Amri Siregar and Raja Fanny Fatahillah said they would focus on health programs, the free BPJS program and providing capital assistance to MSMEs.
“We focus on health programs, BPJS administration is no longer complicated, treatment only uses an ID card, and capital assistance to MSMEs,” said Raja accompanied by Faizal.
Apart from community welfare, this inaugural debate also discussed programs to improve public services, health, management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and priority programs in an effort to reduce poverty in Labuhanbatu Regency.
Previously, the Chair of the Labuhanbatu KPU, Zafar Sidik Pohan, said that apart from disseminating the profile and vision and mission of the candidate pairs, this debate also aims to inform the public so that they can determine their voting rights on November 27 2024. (wool/ndi/d2)
