Five people were killed as a result of Russian strikes targeting the city of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday evening, officials announced.

The city’s mayor, Igor Terekhov, reported on the Telegram website that four people, including three rescue workers, were killed and five wounded in the bombing of residential buildings that had previously been targeted in the “densely populated Kharkiv region.”
He said that another strike on a “residential area” resulted in the death of a fifth person.
Kharkiv Governor Oleg Sinigubov reported “at least four strikes” on the city during the night.
Russian forces target Ukrainian cities almost every night, but Kharkiv’s location near Russia’s northeastern border makes it among the cities most vulnerable to bombing.
