Bad weather caused costly damage. The Pas-de-Calais departmental council will release 50 million euros to repair its road network and bridges damaged by the floods in November, we learned from the community on Tuesday. “Of the 6,200 km of roads, almost half of the network is impacted,” the departmental council told AFP, confirming information from BFMTV.

This first estimate of “50 million euros”, established Monday in plenary session, “will have a strong impact on the 2024 budget”, he added. This sum will be added to the State’s “support fund” of 50 million euros promised by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and intended “to support the most affected municipalities”. For farmers who suffered these floods, but also those in Brittany and Normandy, another fund must be activated.

The department has already mobilized an emergency fund of 10 million euros to support some of the 400 municipalities affected by the floods, more than 260 of which have been recognized as being in a state of natural disaster.
