Raphaël Glucksmann wants to “do for France what we did for Europe”
Raphaël Glucksmann, leader of Place publique, called on the French to join his party in participating “to a great and beautiful project for France”in his return speech to politics in La Réole, in Gironde. The MEP gathered around 2,000 people this weekend to prepare a social democratic option that can challenge the leadership of the left with Jean-Luc Mélenchon and La France insoumise and beat the far right in 2027.
Having arrived at the head of the left in the European elections with 14%, leading the joint list of the Socialist Party and the Place publique on a pro-European and anti-LFI line, Glucksmann wants to continue “the political adventure, which must bring us to power”. Place publique went from 1,500 to almost 11,000 in a few weeks, but “we must be five to ten times more numerous”asked the MEP.

Wanting “Do for France what we did for Europe”he proposed in particular as his first project “the change in voting methods and the transition to proportional representation in our country”. Refuse to appeal “with platform effects, postures or easy solutions”took the oath “sincerity”.
“If we want to take radical measures, then we will take them effectively, (…) This isn’t a ‘the more of me left, die’ competition.”he continued by lashing out at Jean-Luc Mélenchon, but “take strong measures because the situation requires it and we will have worked sufficiently on them”he insisted.
He also promised not to “Don’t put anything under the carpet”and to address the issues “which sometimes seem to make the left uncomfortable”such as security, authority, identity, integration and immigration. “But that doesn’t mean we’re going to have right-wing speeches on these topics. This means we will have our own answers to these questions. »
Left, “At the moment initiatives are springing up everywhere, but this shouldn’t worry us at all”he assured. “These initiatives will converge. They will feed each other.”he promised. Recently, the (socialist) president of the Occitania region, Carole Delga, organized meetings of the left in Bram (Aude), while the mayor (PS) of Saint-Ouen, Karim Bouamrane, launched his movement.
