Food has become more expensive in the last week

Increased food prices are reported by the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) in its weekly bulletin.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, rose by 0.24 percent to 2.129 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2.124 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Greenhouse cucumbers became cheaper by 4.2 percent to BGN 2.48 per kilogram, while greenhouse tomatoes rose in price by 1.1 percent to BGN 3.18 per kilogram. The price of green pepper is down by 5.2 percent and it is traded at BGN 1.72 per kilogram, and that of red pepper – by 3.8 percent to BGN 2.07 per kilogram.

Potatoes maintain their price of BGN 1.17 per kilogram, while carrots are cheaper by 7.8 percent and reach BGN 1.06 per kilogram. Ripe onions also fell – by 4.6 percent to BGN 1.03 per kilogram, and cabbage – by 10.1 percent to BGN 0.98 per kilogram.

The price of lemons fell by 21.5 percent and they were traded at BGN 2.63 per kilogram, while the decrease in bananas was minimal – by 0.4 percent to BGN 2.71 per kilogram. Grapes are also cheaper – by 1.3 percent to BGN 2.34 per kilogram. A significant price drop was observed for apples (by 12 percent to BGN 1.46 per kilogram), oranges (by 9.6 percent to BGN 2.45 per kilogram) and tangerines (by 10.5 percent to BGN 3. BGN 40 per kilogram).

The price of cow’s cheese fell by 0.4 percent to BGN 11.25 per kilogram, and that of “Vitosha” cheese rose by 0.3 percent to BGN 16.80 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) has increased in price by 1 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.25 for a bucket of 400 grams, and fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – by 1.8 percent to 2.33 BGN per liter.

The price of chicken meat is up by 0.3 percent to BGN 6.35 per kilogram, and that of eggs (size M) – by 3.2 percent to BGN 0.32 per piece wholesale.

Rice is more expensive by 0.5 percent and reaches BGN 3.40 per kilogram, and lentils by 0.9 percent and is BGN 4.45 per kilogram, respectively. The price of ripe beans dropped by 1.1 percent to BGN 4.30 per kilogram.

Sugar rose in price by 0.3 percent and was traded at BGN 1.98 per kilogram, and flour type 500 – by 1.6 percent to BGN 1.36 per kilogram. The price of oil also rose – by 2.1 percent to BGN 2.95 per liter, and of cow’s butter (125 gram package) – by 1.1 percent to BGN 2.88 per unit.
