Rabat – Former Moroccan international Hassan Akesbi died ⁢on Saturday following a long illness, we ‌learned from the‍ Mohammed VI Foundation of Sports Champions.

Born on May 1, ​1935⁢ in Tangier, the deceased began ⁤his career in 1950 at ‌the Sevillana Tangier club, before ⁣joining the ranks of FUS⁣ Rabat. He subsequently ​played for the ⁣French club Nîmes Olympique, where he scored 119 goals in 204 matches, a‍ performance which earned ⁤him the title of ⁤top scorer ​in the history of the French ⁢club.

He remains in the annals of French football as ⁢the eleventh ‌best scorer of all time⁢ in the French Championship with​ 173 goals scored in 293 French Championship matches, but also in those‌ of Moroccan football as winner of the Mohammed V Cup in 1962 and the Throne Cup in 1967.⁤ He also wore the jersey of the Moroccan national⁢ team from 1960 to 1970.
