The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov sent a letter too His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and the All East in Damascus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
With his message, the minister expresses “Bulgaria’s unwavering support and solidarity with the Syrian people and with the Orthodox Christians in Syria”, added the ministry.
In his letter, Kondov also shared his hope that Syrians will live as equal and responsible citizens of their country, in a peaceful and prosperous Syria, governed by the rule of law and respect for human rights and freedoms.
“I believe that in the future, under yoru spiritual leadership, Orthodox Christians will contribute a lot to the restoration of their country – a home for all Syrians, irrespective of their faith and ethnicity”, Minister Kondov also wrote and wished prosperity and peace to the people of Syria in the spirit of the approaching Christmas holidays.
That day, the Patriarch of Antioch also received support from the Bulgarian Patriarch and Sofia Metropolitan Daniil, who sent a message of fraternal love and a prayer for Syrian christians to live in peace.
