Baku will host the “Forum on Sustainable Development of Agriculture” this year, organized by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

As Day.Az reports, this was announced exclusively for Trend by the President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan Mamed Musayev.

“Azerbaijan is on the Board of Directors of this chamber, which unites representatives from 57 countries of the world. The timing of this international forum, which will be held annually in Baku, is currently being determined,” Musayev noted.

He said that he had already invited representatives of Kazakhstan and Central Asian (CA) countries to take part in the upcoming event.

“We want Kazakhstan and the Central Asian countries to transport their agricultural goods through Azerbaijan to the countries of the Middle East, which are members of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture,” Musayev explained.

Let us recall that the 35th meeting of this chamber was held in July 2023 in Baku and was attended by about 100 delegations from 20 countries, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, and Egypt.

“The Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is the organizer of a number of major international forums, and the decision to annually hold the Forum on Sustainable Development of Agriculture in Azerbaijan will contribute to the intensive development of the country’s agricultural sector,” Musayev believes.

The members of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture are 57 countries, with a total area of ​​more than 31.8 million square kilometers and a total population of about two billion people. These countries account for 6.2 percent of the world’s land area and 23.8 percent of the world’s population.

The annual gross domestic product (GDP) of the member countries of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is approximately US$10 trillion.
