Madinah: Four people were killed when a bus collided with a truck in Saudi Arabia’s Madinah province on Thursday night. A bus carrying 45 passengers collided with a truck on the Al Hijra Highway in Madinah province. It was not immediately clear what nationality the victims were from.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in the city of al-Yutama, about 90 kilometers (60 miles) from the city of Madinah. Some of the injured were given first aid at the scene before being taken to hospitals. More than 20 ambulances and advanced care units from Madinah rushed to the scene. In addition, eight units from Makkah and three units from Qasim were on duty at the scene, said Khalid al-Sehali, a spokesman for the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.

Authorities did not confirm when the crash happened, but said ambulances were alerted to the crash around 11:27 a.m. Thursday. The site of the accident is one of the main road links between the busy provinces of Mecca and Madinah, which underwent renovations two years ago. Pilgrims and pilgrims often met with accidents on their way to visit the holy sites of Makkah and Madinah.

In 2019, thirty-five pilgrims were killed when a bus collided with a loader on the same highway near the village of Al-Akhal. The bus was carrying expatriates from Asian and Arab countries. According to the World Health Organization, in 2019, 12,317 traffic deaths were reported in Saudi Arabia.
