Chulalongkorn Hospital, under the Thai Red Cross Society, has recently announced the opening of registration for cervical cancer vaccination. The hospital is offering a free update of the 4-strain HPV vaccine, with service expected to begin in September 2023.
The vaccination is open for Thai children, both males and females, aged between 9 and 15 years old. Cervical cancer vaccination aims to protect individuals from HPV infection, a leading cause of cervical cancer in women, as well as genital warts and anal cancer in males.
To be eligible for the HPV vaccination, several conditions and qualifications must be met. Firstly, individuals must be Thai children, born between September 17, 2008, and September 9, 2014. Furthermore, those who have never received any HPV vaccine before will be administered with 2 doses of the vaccine. The second dose will be scheduled 6 months after the date of the first dose.
For those who have previously received the 4-strain HPV vaccine, they will receive 1 additional dose, at least 6 months apart from the first dose. On the other hand, individuals who have previously received the 2-strain HPV vaccine will be administered with 2 doses of the 4-strain HPV vaccine.
It is important to note that services will be provided based on pre-registered appointments only. Walk-in vaccinations will not be entertained.
To avail of the HPV vaccination service, individuals must bring their ID card, original birth certificate, and personal vaccination book on the day of vaccination. The registration system requires the individual’s ID card number.
Registration can be done through the Chula Care application. For those who have never received services at Chulalongkorn Hospital before, it is necessary to register as a new patient in advance before registering for vaccination.
The vaccination service will be available on the following dates and times: Saturday 9 September – Sunday 10 September 2023, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, and Saturday 16 September – Sunday 17 September 2023, also from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The venue for the vaccination service will be the Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building, 13th floor, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society.
