Protesting French farmers blocked the highway near Paris that leads to the border with Spain.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, this was reported by the BFMTV channel.

Farmers from the Rural Coordination blocked the N10 road at the commune level of Le Perret-en-Yvelines.

Eight tractors are blocking traffic along the highway; in total, about 20 farmers are taking part in the action. The union also announced a demonstration on the RN4 road east of Paris, which leads to the German border.

The day before, columns of farmers went to Paris to block the roads to the French capital. Following this, the Paris and Val-de-Marne police headquarters banned all unannounced gatherings in the center of Paris and near the Rungis market from 6 pm on Sunday until noon on Monday.

Farmer unions are demanding an end to the overextension of standards and better controls on imports into the country. In November it was reported that they opposed the upcoming deal between the European Union and MERCOSUR (unified markets of Latin America), thanks to which cattle would be able to be supplied to EU countries at reduced taxes.

Earlier it was reported that a rally of supporters of France’s exit from the European Union was held in Paris.
