From Mbappe’s team on rape allegations: Slander!

by times news cr

Rape allegations against France captain and Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe are “completely false” and a “defamatory rumour”, his representatives said on Tuesday, following Swedish media reports that the French star was under investigation over an incident at a hotel in Stockholm on October 10, writes Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Swedish prosecutors confirmed in a statement that an investigation had been launched into an alleged rape at a hotel in central Stockholm, but did not specify the suspect’s identity.

Swedish public broadcaster SVT and dailies Expressen and Aftonbladet, citing unnamed sources, said Mbappe, 25, was a suspect in the case.

“A new defamation rumor is starting to ignite the web,” said a statement sent to Reuters by Mbappe’s representatives at PR firm Patricia Goldman.

“These accusations are completely false and irresponsible and their propagation is unacceptable. Kylian Mbappe will not under any circumstances allow his integrity, reputation and honor to be tarnished by baseless insinuations.”

Mbappe himself posted a link to a French media story on the matter and wrote: “Fake news!!!!”

The France national team captain and Real Madrid forward was on a private trip to the Scandinavian country’s capital last week with a group of friends, Swedish media reported.

Mbappe and his friends left Sweden on Friday, October 11. A complaint in the case against Mbappe was lodged with the police by an unidentified victim the following day, Expressen and daily Aftonbladet said.

Mbappe trained with his Real Madrid teammates on Tuesday. The club is not commenting at this stage on whether it is aware of the investigation.
