Born into a farming family in Gujarat, India, Chandubhai Virani tried to start a business with his brothers at the age of 15 when the family faced financial crisis.

In 1982 he started making his own chips (Wafers) from home with minimal investment and hard work.
Then in 1992 he started Balaji Wafers Private Limited with his brother.
Today Balaji Wafers has become India’s leading snack food company.
Asset value of the company
As of March last year, the assets of Balaji Wafers alone have risen to Rs 5000 crore.
Around 7000 people are currently working in his company alone. It is noteworthy that more than half of them are women.
Balaji Wafers currently produces 3,400 kg of chips per hour, which is impressive for the company’s productivity.
