In Singapore a meeting took place with Azerbaijani communityliving in the Republic of Singapore.
As Day.Az was informed by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan, at the event, which began with the performance of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Singapore, the blessed memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our country was honored with a minute of silence.
“Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov noted that President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the diaspora policy, the foundation of which was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The meeting discussed in detail the activities of the committee, houses of Azerbaijan, coordination councils, Sunday schools abroad, summer camps for Diaspora youth and other major projects.
Then a video was shown reflecting the activities of the Azerbaijani diaspora, as well as the victory of Azerbaijan in Karabakh.
Azerbaijani businessmen, students and our compatriots working in various fields who took part in the event thanked the Azerbaijani state for organizing the first meeting of the Azerbaijani community in Singapore.
A native of Ganja, Laman Bagheri, who left Azerbaijan at the age of 20 and has lived in Singapore for 31 years, said that last year she visited Baku and was delighted with the development of our country, said that she intends to restore her citizenship and return to Azerbaijan.
The daughter of the famous Azerbaijani oncologist, Professor Mamed Aliyev, living in Russia, Farah Movsumova, emphasized that she highly appreciates the numerous projects carried out by the committee so that Azerbaijanis abroad do not forget their native language and national identity.
After a mutual exchange of views, in which the Consul of Azerbaijan in Singapore and Indonesia also took part, and comprehensive answers to the questions of our compatriots, at the proposal of representatives of the diaspora, coordinators of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis living in the Southeast Asian region for Singapore were elected.
The event ended with the performance of the mugham group “Karabakh” under the direction of People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Mansum Ibrahimov,” the State Committee said in a statement.
