Fuel Price | International oil prices hit eight-year high; Know the petrol-diesel price in the country

by time news
New Delhi: Brent crude rose to $ 113 a barrel in early trade on Friday. This is the highest rate in eight years. Although members of the International Energy Agency agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil from emergency stock, oil prices continued to rise sharply. The move could not stop the rise in crude futures. At the same time, the country’s fuel prices remain unchanged. However, reports suggest that petrol-diesel prices are likely to rise sharply in the coming weeks.

Russia is the second largest exporter of crude oil worldwide. Oil prices have risen to $ 100 a barrel for the first time since Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to launch a military operation on the Ukrainian border. The oil trade has been exempted from sanctions, but has stopped buying fuel from Russia to avoid unstable conditions. The United States and 30 other member states of the International Energy Agency (IEA) on Tuesday agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil reserves to overcome supply disruptions following the Russia-Ukraine war.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged on March 3 in four metros across the country. This situation has been going on for more than a hundred days. On November 3, after the retail price hit a record high, the central government decided to cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10. Many states and Union Territories have followed in the footsteps of the Center and announced reduction in fuel tax.
