Fuel: TotalEnergies ready to negotiate wages quickly if blockages end

by time news

Finally a way out of the social conflict that has been affecting motorists for a week? The management of TotalEnergies announced this Sunday afternoon in a press release that it was ready to bring forward wage negotiations to October, when they were originally scheduled for November. On condition that the blockages of certain refineries cease and that, therefore, the pumps can be supplied with fuel. This weekend, more than 20% of service stations are out of at least one fuel, gasoline or diesel. Result: those which are still supplied are taken by storm, in particular in Île-de-France and in Hauts-de-France.

This announcement comes shortly after the CGT declared that the strike movement in several French refineries and fuel depots, initiated ten days ago, was continuing. The union is demanding a 10% increase in wages – 7% for inflation, 3% for the sharing of wealth – with retroactive effect from January 1, 2022. On Saturday, the CGT had taken a first step to negotiate. She had offered to waive her demands on hiring and investment in France to begin discussions with management on Monday.
