Thanks to two goals from Davinson Sanchez and Victor Osimhen, Galatasaray won the Istanbul derby against Besiktas 2-1 (1-0) on Monday and extended their lead in the Süper Lig.
Sanchez gave “Gala” an early start (13th), Oshiman followed up in the middle of the second half. Muci’s goal came too late (90+4).
With this victory in the duel between the last two teams who had not met before, Galatasaray extended their lead over second-placed Samsunspor to six points after ten match days. Besiktas are tied with Fenerbahce in fourth place with 20 points.
Two standards from Sara, two goals
After an even start, a set piece helped the hosts take the lead: Gabriel fed Sara Sanchez, who scored with a header. Besiktas tried in vain to find an answer. Rafa Silva had the best chance, but Galatasaray keeper Fernado Muslera was in the post (44th).
Besiktas also worked hard in the second half, with Silva again targeting the goal (64′). Galatsaray scored again three minutes later – again with Sara’s previous standard, this time the superb striker Osimhen headed the ball home. After this goal, Besiktas dived for a long time, and they could not do more than Muci’s follow-up goal with a beautiful shot into the left corner.
