Gangnam-gu is promoting a home visit health care project. Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Seong-myeong Cho), a city where dreams gather and envision the future, will promote a home-visit health care project for seniors over 65 years old and those with health vulnerabilities in 22 districts starting in April.

In this project, 40 nurses working at community centers in 22 districts of Gangnam-gu visit seniors with chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure to help them maintain their health. Last year, 62,491 health counseling and management services were provided to 12,298 people.

This year, reflecting the characteristics of each neighborhood and the needs of residents, we will operate various programs such as ▲ operating a day to protect the health of our neighborhood ▲ creating a healthy senior citizen center in our neighborhood ▲ a healthy 100-year happiness program, etc.

On ‘Our Neighborhood Health Protection Day’, ‘CPR training’ is conducted to improve crisis response skills in sudden cardiac arrest situations. Training is conducted once in the first and second half of the year for each building, and students learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, how to call 119, chest compressions, and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED), and practice using a mannequin.

The ‘Healthy Senior Center in Our Neighborhood’ program has nurses regularly visit senior centers frequented by seniors to measure blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol to help manage their health. It also provides education on chronic disease, nutrition, oral health management, and dementia prevention, and also provides information on exercises to practice a healthy lifestyle. When a senior citizen center discovers a person who is having difficulty managing their health, it connects them with individual home visit management and helps with more intensive management.

The ‘Healthy 100 Year Old Happiness Program’ is a customized program that reflects the needs and demands of seniors in each district. This year, we plan to conduct the program for 2,120 people over 180 sessions. ▲Chronic disease (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cerebrovascular disease) ▲teeth and gum care ▲stretching and health exercises ▲education to prevent depression and improve cognitive function were planned. In particular, Samsung 1 and 2-dong and Daechi 1, 2 and 4-dong cooperate with Gangnam Well Aging Center to implement specialized programs on fall prevention and sarcopenia prevention. For detailed programs and application for participation in the visiting health care project, please contact each building.

Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “As we approach the age of 100, visiting nurses in each district are accompanying the elderly to stay healthy. We will continue to create Gangnam where seniors are healthy and happy by operating health programs tailored to the needs of each district.”
