International oil prices rise on expectations of China’s economic stimulus package
Gas station gas prices rose for the 12th consecutive week this week.
According to Korea National Oil Corporation’s oil price information system Offinet on the 4th, the selling price of gasoline at gas stations nationwide in the first week of January (December 29 to January 2) was 1,671.0 won per liter (ℓ), an increase of 9.0 won compared to the previous week.
The sales price in Seoul, the highest price in the country, was recorded at 1,729.6 won, up 9.5 won from the previous week, and in Daegu, the lowest price in the country, it was recorded at 1,643.1 won, an increase of 10.1 won compared to the previous week.
By brand, thrifty gas stations had the lowest price with an average of 1,645.2 won per liter, while SK Energy gas stations had the highest price with 1,679.6 won.
During the same period, the selling price of diesel at gas stations nationwide was 1,516.3 won per liter, up 9.0 won from the previous week.
International oil prices rose this week due to continued expectations about China’s economic stimulus package, but the increase was limited due to the continued strength of the US dollar.
Dubai oil, the standard for imported crude oil prices, was $75.5 per barrel, up $1.5 from the previous week.
During the same period, the international gasoline price increased by $1.5 to $82.1, and automobile diesel prices increased by $2.3 to $91.6.
Changes in international oil prices are usually reflected in domestic gas station prices with a lag of 2 to 3 weeks.
