On the 454th day of the Israeli war on Gaza, Palestinian sources reported that 11 displaced Palestinians were killed and 15 others injured, as a result of an Israeli bombing of their tents in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, in the south of the Gaza Strip.

According to local sources, the fire broke out after the bombing of a camp for displaced people in the vicinity of Hay al-Salam camp, west of the city of Khan Yunis, and ambulances are still transporting the victims towards Nasser Hospital.

The residents of the Gaza Strip welcomed the New Year, as the war entered its 453rd day, with the impact of air attacks, artillery shelling, the bombing of residential squares, and the targeting of shelter centers, coinciding with rainwater sweeping through thousands of tents sheltering the displaced, which increased the suffering of families.

The Israeli army continued its attacks on hospitals in the Gaza Strip, targeting displaced persons’ gatherings, and the military incursion into the center and north of the Gaza Strip, where an Israeli army spokesman called on the residents of Bureij camp and new areas in northern Gaza to evacuate the area due to “an Israeli attack targeting those who launch rockets towards Israel.”

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, “The death toll from the devastating Israeli war on Gaza has risen to 45,553 martyrs and 108,379 injured since October 7, 2023, after the Israeli army committed two massacres that resulted in 12 dead and 41 injured during the past 48 hours.”

For its part, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics announced that the population of Gaza has decreased by 6% since the start of the Israeli attack on the Strip 15 months ago, after the departure of about 100,000 Palestinians and the killing of more than 55,000.

The agency referred to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, which announced that about 45,500 Palestinians, more than half of whom are women and children, have been martyred since the outbreak of the war, while 11,000 are missing.

He added that the data indicate that the population of Gaza decreased by about 160,000 during the war to 2.1 million, including more than 1 million, or 47%, under the age of 18.

The agency stated in its report published on Tuesday: “Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has launched a brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip, targeting people, buildings, and vital infrastructure. Cities have turned into rubble, entire neighborhoods have become traces after an eye, entire families whose names have been erased from the civil registry, losses.” Devastating human and material.

He added: “22% of the population faces catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity,” according to the criteria of the Integrated Interim Classification of Food Security.

He continued: “11,000 pregnant women and about 3,500 children are at risk of death due to malnutrition and lack of food, as 36 children were martyred as a result of famine and malnutrition.”

For its part, the Israeli Foreign Ministry considered the statements “fabricated, false, and exaggerated in order to distort Israel’s reputation.”

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Israeli army announced that it carried out more than 1,400 air strikes on targets in Gaza during the month of December alone, at a rate of 45 raids per day.

The Israeli army explained in a statement, “The attacks were carried out by fighter jets, helicopters, and drones, based on information provided by ground forces.”

The statement indicated, “The targets included Hamas fighters and its allies, tunnels, observation and sniper sites, and weapons depots.”

Israel faces international criticism due to the large number of Palestinian civilian casualties resulting from these attacks.
