Chennai:

Suriyamoorthy from Dindigul had filed a case in the Chennai Licensing Court seeking an injunction against the AIADMK general body meeting to be held on the 23rd as the single leadership issue in the AIADMK has intensified.

AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy had filed a petition to reject the petition. The case was adjourned till the 22nd. However, as the AIADMK general body meeting has been announced to be held on the 23rd, Suryamoorthy has filed a fresh petition seeking an inquiry into the case in advance. The petition came up for hearing before Judge Priya today.

At that time, a request was made on behalf of the interim AIADMK leader Tamilmagan Hussain and former Speaker Danapal to allow the AIADMK to file a reply petition. O. Panneerselvam’s counsel then argued that the petition against the meeting should be considered expired as the coordinator O. Panneerselvam had written a letter to Deputy Coordinator Edappadi Palanisamy seeking the adjournment of the public meeting.

His attorney noted that the co-ordinator and co-coordinator could only convene the general assembly, and that OBS had written the letter as the co-ordinator to put it off.

Subsequently, counsel appearing for the AIADMK said that the petitioner was not a member of the Suriyamurthy party.

Suryamoorthy’s lawyer strongly objected to this. The lawyer said that there was evidence that Suryamoorthy was a member of the party and there was no evidence that he was not a member.

Following this, the judge adjourned the hearing on the petition seeking adjournment of the case filed seeking adjournment of the public meeting. He ordered the respondents to reply to the petition tomorrow and adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
