Steffen Schwarzkopf has visited George Floyd’s hometown several times in the past twelve months and spoken to people in Minneapolis, but also in other places in America – with residents, relatives of victims, activists, social workers, politicians and police officers. He was particularly impressed by the encounter with a 16-year-old student who formulated his thoughts on the subject of racism in razor-sharp words: “The world is full of injustice. No matter where you are, you will be judged by how you look. Our skin color shouldn’t matter because we’re all the same inside. ”The report turns into an oppressive appraisal of an insecure nation looking for a better way.
