Summer, heat, vacation time – nationwide, many people are currently drawn to the water. The lifeguards of the water rescue service of the German Red Cross (DRK) are now increasingly on duty. “In order to ensure safety when bathing in swimming pools, on rivers, in lakes and on the sea in the future, we urgently need to ensure that the lifeguards are recruited reliably,” says Andreas Paatz, federal head of the DRK water rescue service, on the occasion of the ” World Day Against Drowning” on July 25th. “It is just as important to strengthen swimming training and thus safe swimming.”
