Lille.

The German series “Herrhausen – The Lord of Money” won the award for best script at the international series festival in Lille, northern France, which went to Thomas Wendrich. The series is about Deutsche Bank boss Alfred Herrhausen (1930-1989), who died in 1989 and was the victim of an attack claimed by the left-wing extremist terrorist organization Red Army Faction. The renowned, week-long festival “Séries Mania” ended on Friday.

In the press release, Wendrich emphasized the importance of the appreciation shown to the series: “It is wonderful that a German topic has been so well received internationally. The appreciation that we have all experienced here is a great joy for me!” The author, actor and director already received the German Film Prize in 2022 for his script for the film biography “Dear Thomas” by Andreas Kleinert.

“Herrhausen – The Lord of Money” is a production by Sperl Film and Television Production in co-production with ARD Degeto, RBB, SWR, HR and in collaboration with X Films Creative Pool.

In the biopic, Oliver Masucci (55) embodies the role of the top manager, who was considered one of the most endangered people in the Federal Republic at the time. The series, which also stars Julia Koschitz, David Schütter and Ursula Strauss, is expected to be broadcast in the second half of the year, according to ARD Degeto.

The main prize at the festival was won by the French Arte series “Rematch” about the former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, who was defeated by a chess computer in 1997. (dpa)
