Germany: Those who have been ill with the omicron are not protected from other strains

Green Party health expert Janos Damen warns patients who have recovered from coronavirus due to infection with the omicron strain that they may become infected with other strains.

“Anyone who assumes that omicron contamination protects him from other variants of the virus is wrong,” Damen told RND. “The data that we have at the moment shows that those who have recovered from the disease after being infected with a new strain are not necessarily protected from other variants of the virus.” There are known cases when patients infected with the omicron got sick as a result of infection with the delta variant.

The expert emphasizes: “only vaccination provides sufficient protection against various strains.” He also considers it necessary to clarify when people are considered fully vaccinated: “Fully vaccinated should be considered only those who were vaccinated three times, as well as citizens who received the second dose of the vaccine no later than three months ago,” he said. This rule also applies to those who have recovered: “three months after the illness, you should definitely be vaccinated, because the protection from infection in the recovered lasts about the same as in the vaccinated.”

Germany says this:
