After the success of OnePlus 11, which received an overwhelming response, OnePlus is finally ready to launch its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 12, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in China at 2:30 p.m. local time. Here’s an overview of what you should know ahead of the OnePlus 12’s launch.

Design and Display
There are no major changes seen in the OnePlus 12 in terms of design. The cameras are arranged in a sphere, inspired by classic watches. The power button and volume rocker remain on the left side, and on the right side, there is an on-off button and a notification slider. The phone will be available in three color options: Blank, Green, and Rock Black. Leaks suggest that the Rock Black option might have a wood finish as an homage to the OG OnePlus One Walnut Wood Edition.

On the front, the phone sports a large 6.82-inch BOE AMOLED display with a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The 2K+ display combines advanced features like 2160Hz PWM dimming and a pixel density of 510. The OnePlus 12 has a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, well above the current flagship standard of 2,400-2,600 nits. It uses Oppo’s Display P1 chip for increased quality and performance and features a slimmer, more responsive in-display fingerprint scanner. The display also has OnePlus’ Rain Water Touch feature that helps prevent false touches.

Specs and Performance
The OnePlus 12 uses Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, clocked at up to 3.3GHz. It also has a new onboard Adreno 750 GPU that improves graphics performance and comes with a larger vapor chamber for cooling. It comes with RAM memory LPDDR5X + ROM UFS 4.0, with a capacity of up to 24GB + 1TB. The battery capacity has been increased to 5,400mAh and supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It also includes a new vibration motor called “Bionic Vibration. Motor Turbo” that is 18% more efficient and 60% faster. It will launch with ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 (OxygenOS 14 in global markets).

Camera
The cameras on the OnePlus 12 have received a major upgrade: a 50MP Sony Lytia 808 main camera, a 50MP Sony LYT-T808 sensor with f/1.6 aperture and 23mm focal length, a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 14mm focal length, and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B telephoto camera with f/2.6 aperture and 70mm focal length, enabling optical zoom of up to 3 times.

For anyone interested in the OnePlus 12 flagship smartphone, be patient and wait a little longer. After launching in China, the release in other markets, such as Thailand, is yet to be announced.
