Glen Cove’s Shye Roberts Advances on The Voice After Stunning Battle Round Performance

Glen Cove native Madison “Shye” Roberts stunned viewers Monday night on “The Voice” with a powerful Battle Round duet performance that secured her spot on Team Bublé.

Facing off against fellow contestant Jamison Puckett, the 18-year-old, who recently relocated from Glen Cove High School to a Pennsylvania school with her family, delivered a show-stopping rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” leaving coach Michael Bublé speechless.

“Shye, you blew me away,” Bublé exclaimed, adding in a later interview, “I see a world of potential in her. Her voice is truly special—it reminds me of Adele. She has a bright future ahead of her.”

A visibly emotional Shye reacted to Bublé’s praise, saying, “I was completely overwhelmed! I barely held back the tears.”

The performance, marked by exceptional camaraderie and stage presence, left a lasting impression on all the coaches. Country music legend Reba McEntire highlighted the palpable chemistry between Shye and Puckett.

Bublé, expressing his admiration for both singers, confessed that choosing Shye was a difficult decision. “I’m constantly amazed by the unexpected turns this show takes,” he said. “Shye’s raw talent completely surprised me.”

Alaska’s Powerhouse, Reba McEntire, called the camaraderie “excellent” and Bublé, renowned for his crooning vocals, acknowledged the difficult decision, “It was tough seeing Jamison go. I’m learning that this show always holds surprises.”

Shye, who thrives on challenges, welcomed the opportunity to perform the pop-rock anthem with reggae influences, stating, ” It’s definitely a genre I feel connected to.”

Although Shye garnered the attention of all four coaches— Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, and Gwen Stefani—during her memorable audition with Five for Fighting’s “Superman (It’s Not Easy),” she admitted to feeling nervous entering the Battle Round. ” I’m still gaining experience,” she shared, “and Jamison has been singing for a lot longer.”

Reflecting on her roots in Glen Cove, Shye credits her involvement in musical theater, particularly at Landing Elementary School, Robert Finley Middle School, and Glen Cove High School, for building her confidence and stage presence. “Musical theater nurtured my love for performing. It taught me everything, from singing and acting to owning the stage.”
