Gochang-gun held the 2024 Youth Tidal Flat Rangers publication ceremony and results report meeting. On the 12th, Gochang-gun held the ‘2024 Youth Tidal Flat Rangers’ publication report and results report at Harry Book Forest in Book Village.
Starting with the performance of the 20 Rangers Choir, the activities were collected and published in a booklet, and a publication briefing session was held. After signing an autograph session with Rangers’ author, we finished by watching an activity video and sharing our impressions of the activity.
‘Youth Tidal Flat Rangers’ is a human resources training program that helps youth grow into wetland conservation entities by directly experiencing the various stories unique to the Gochang Tidal Flat, feeling the tidal flat ecology, and growing into wetland conservation entities.
20 youths from local children’s centers were recruited and it was operated a total of eight times from March to October. We conducted birdwatching for migratory birds that visit each season in the Gochang tidal flat, which is connected to windbreak pine forests, sand dunes, and chenier, and observed and recorded various species.
Oh Mi-suk, head of the Gochang-gun World Heritage Department, said, “Monitoring migratory birds, which are central to the value of being listed as a World Natural Heritage, has served as an opportunity to spread birdwatching culture among youth,” and added, “We will continue to strive to foster green leaders in the Gochang tidal flat.”
Meanwhile, Gochang Youth Ventures (Chairman Seon-woong Han) successfully completed a social dining event with young farmers and young small business owners at a restaurant in Gochang-eup on the evening of the 11th.
This event, which was held in collaboration with Youth Ventures Returning to Rural Youth and Gochang-based youth organization Moduda Flower, attracted attention with its differentiated program. At this event, where about 30 young people gathered, a young farmer served as an interpreter and explained the agricultural products he had grown. While eating dishes prepared by a young chef, we communicated about failure and growth.
It was a meaningful time for young farmers to feel proud through the process of turning the produce they grow into dishes, and for young chefs to get new ideas for menu development through feedback on their dishes.
In addition, young people in various occupations had time to honestly share their stories of difficulties and failures, and gained motivation and courage to move forward by feeling that challenges and failures can be important stepping stones for growth.
Chairman Seon-Woong Han said, “This event served as an opportunity for the youth of Gochang to grow by sharing their experiences with each other,” and added, “We will continue to challenge ourselves fiercely for the agricultural and economic development of Gochang through various planning and collaboration.”
