Gokseong-gun was selected as ‘Best’ in the diagnosis and evaluation of local non-tax revenue operation performance in 2024. Gokseong-gun (Governor Cho Sang-rae) was selected as the best organization among 243 local governments in the ‘2024 National Local Government Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance Analysis and Diagnostic Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security. Accordingly, the military secured 80 million won in grants as a ministerial commendation and financial incentives.

The evaluation of local non-tax revenue operation performance is a system in which the Ministry of Public Administration and Security comprehensively evaluates the degree of achievement of delinquency and collection management goals, non-tax revenue collection rate, collection and delinquency management efforts, and best practices. Operational performance is to promote the efficiency of the local non-tax revenue system. Analysis and diagnosis have been conducted annually since 2015.

Gokseong-gun received an excellent evaluation for establishing an organic collaboration system between the department in charge of imposing non-tax revenue and the delinquency management department and improving the collection rate through systematic and active delinquency management. Accordingly, Gokseong-gun achieved success for three consecutive years by being selected as the best organization in 2022 and the best organization in 2023.

A military official said, “This is the result of doing our best to secure independent financial resources despite the decreasing trend in local financial support,” and added, “We will strive to strengthen financial soundness through systematic management and active operation of non-tax revenue.”

Meanwhile, Gokseong-gun announced that it won the ‘Excellence Award’ in the Jeollanam-do evaluation of the ‘Namdo Food Street Luxury Project’, a project to attract tourists by building food tourism infrastructure.

For this evaluation, excellent local governments were selected for 17 food streets in 15 cities and counties through the evaluation of 13 quantitative indicators in 5 categories: implementation plan, budget security, business promotion, food street promotion, and business promotion will.

The ‘Namdo Food Street Luxury Project’ creates food streets by selecting areas where restaurants representing local food are concentrated or where the effect of revitalizing the local economy is high when creating food streets.

Gokseong-gun’s Namdo Food Street was selected as a contest for the creation of a “Namdo Food Street” in Jeollanam-do in 2016, and 17 restaurants selling crab and silverfish dishes participated.

Currently, 13 locations are in operation, and along with the creation of the park, sculptures symbolizing crabs and sweetfish are installed, and a photo zone and crab and sweetfish storyboards are provided to provide tourists with a resting area where they can take a break.

Last year, the county launched Yalu Crab and Sweetfish Street with Gokseong’s unique slogan, “Namdo!” in order to globalize it. We self-produced two promotional video contents for Gokseong Pride and Yalu Crab Sweetfish Street and posted Cham Crab Sweetfish Storyboards at 13 restaurants to provide things to see, read, and eat to customers visiting the restaurant.

In addition, we operate a promotional booth during the Gokseong World Rose Festival and Children’s Festival to broadcast a video showing the pride of Namdo Gokseong and Amrok Crab Sweetfish Street through TV, and utilize various SNS such as the Gokseong website, YouTube, Kakao Channel, and Instagram to promote Gokseong-gun as a representative. We have been working hard to promote food.

In addition, the military and merchant associations hold meetings once a month to provide hygiene and friendly education to business owners and workers, and produce and distribute leaflets, promotional products, and hygiene products. They also post restaurant banners at the Yalu Resort camping site to guide delivery restaurants, etc. We also participated in park cleaning and landscape maintenance activities.

A Gokseong-gun official said, “The county and the merchant association will continue to listen to each other’s opinions in 2025 and actively work to revitalize the Namdo food culture street for residents and tourists so that we can contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
