Golikova spoke about the increase in mortality in Russia in November

The mortality rate in Russia in November 2021 exceeded the figure for the same period in 2020 by 17%, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the mortality rates for January – November 2021 exceeded the same indicators for 2020 by 18.5%. “Of the total increase in mortality in November of this year, more than 100% is accounted for by mortality from COVID-19, while mortality from other diseases has decreased by 9%,” Golikova emphasized (quoted by TASS).

She noted that in 2021, over 29 days of December compared to 29 days of November, mortality decreased by 19.6%, while mortality from COVID-19 prevails in the structure of mortality. According to Rosstat, COVID-19 became the main cause of death of 71,187 Russians in November of this year alone. Since the beginning of the pandemic, about 301,000 people have become victims of the coronavirus in Russia.

In November 2021, more than 257,000 people died in the country against almost 220,000 in November of the previous year. From January to November inclusive, 2.23 million Russians died against 1.88 million in the same period in 2020.
