The Ecuadorian tennis player Gonzalo Escobar achieved his first title of the year in the doubles circuit after being crowned champion of the Girona Challenger together with the Kazakh <a href="https://time.news/gonzalo-escobar-doubles-champion-of-the-atp-250-in-estoril-la-nacion/" title="Gonzalo Escobar, doubles champion of the ATP 250 in Estoril – La Nación”>Aleksandr Nedovyesov.
In the grand final they beat the Frenchmen Jonathan Eyserric and Albano Olivetti in two sets (7-6 and 6-4). The Kazakh-Ecuadorian duo were the number 1 seeds and favorites to win. This is Escobar’s 12th title at the ATP Challengers level and his 17th title (5 in ATP 250 tournaments) since he turned professional.
At the beginning of the season, Escobar and Nedovyesov reached the final of the Challenger Los Cabos but fell in the defining match. With this victory in Girona (Spain), the Ecuadorian tennis player will climb to 53rd place in the ATP doubles ranking.
