Mirza Fakhrul Islam termed Awami League as a promise-breaking party and said, we have to realize our own rights, no one from outside will come and fulfill our demands. The current Awami League government is ruining the country’s economy. No election will be fair under Hasina. Of course, everyone must resist unitedly. Otherwise no one would exist.
He said, whereas today’s Awami League made many promises when the elections were held under the caretaker government in 1996. But the Awami League did not fulfill them but moved away from it. They made two fake elections. No voters went to vote in the 2014 election. Voted in Nishira in 2018 as well. Today this government has destroyed the election. Now city corporation election is going on what are they doing there too. In this situation, our former elected mayor of Sylhet Ariful Haque Chowdhury announced not to vote.

He said that there will be no fair elections if the current Hasina government is in power. Because they have destroyed electoral institutions. Reminiscing about Shafiul Alam Pradhan, he said that the late Shafiul Alam Pradhan never compromised on the question of independence and sovereignty. He was always vocal for the country and nation. He was no ordinary leader. He was truly a sacrificer, patriot and revolutionary leader. His father was the Speaker of the East Pakistan Assembly. He himself worked against subjugation throughout his life. He has a family tradition. He did not compromise on questions of policy. He was the general secretary of the ruling student body Chhatra League. But he did not succumb to greed for power or money. He had no interest in politics. Country and country people were important to him.
