Elected this Saturday (21st) to continue in command of the PSDB in Mato Grosso do Sul, former governor Reinaldo Azambuja is tipped to become national president of the party. The MS politician was mentioned in an interview with the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, who currently leads the PSDB nationally.

Asked who would have his support in the succession, Leite mentioned Azambuja and senator Tasso Jereissati, who was governor of Ceará.

“We have Tasso Jereissati, the former governor Reinaldo Azambuja of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), it is a case because he was governor twice. He managed to elect his successor, who is a great figure, Eduardo Riedel, more than half of the state’s city halls are administered by the PSDB. São Paulo elected three federal deputies. MS also elected three. We elected two for RS”, Eduardo Leite told the newspaper O Estado de São Paulo.

According to the newspaper O Globo, the PSDB should elect its national leadership in November. Last month, the Brasília court annulled the act that allowed Eduardo Leite to command the party and ordered elections to be called.

Acclaimed – This Saturday, in Campo Grande, Azambuja was elected state president of the PSDB. He was governor of Mato Grosso do Sul for two terms, federal deputy and mayor of Maracaju.
