The Latvian couple, seeded with the first number in the tournament, beat the Chinese duo Xue Chen/Xia Xinyi (5th) 2-0 (24:22, 21:16).
At the beginning of the game,the Chinese women took the lead with 3:1,but the Latvian pair won the next two games,achieving a draw.The Chinese once again gained a two-point advantage (11:9), but the Latvian pair scored four points in a row, taking the lead with 14:12. The next two games were won by the Chinese, but in a similar game the Latvians won 24:22 at the end of the set, coming within a winning set of the third place.
Graudiņa started the second set with Samoilova with three won games - 3:0. The Chinese won the next two points, but the Latvian duo increased their lead to 12:7. Xue/Xia scored three points in a row to close to 15-17, but Samoilova and Graudiņa won the next three games, celebrating a 21-16 set victory a little later.
It has already been reported that in the matches of Group A, the Latvian pair won 2-1 (19:21, 22:20, 15:11) over Valentin Gottardi and reka Orši-Tota (10th) from Italy, with 0-2 (18:21, 10:21) lost to US beach volleyballers Theresa Cannon and Megan Kraft (8th) and with 0-2 (16:21, 11:21) – Brazilian duo Agata Bednarchuk/Rebecca Cavalcanti (4th) won 2-1 (21:17, 14:21, 15:12) over Chinese duo xue/Xia (5th) .
In the quarter-finals,the Dutch duet Rhys Schoen/Katja Stam (3rd) was defeated 2-1 (16:21,21:15,15:13),but in the semi-finals thay again had to give in to Cannon and Kraft – 0-2 (17:21,14 :21).
For the final tournament,eight teams were selected based on their place in the world ranking,but two duos received a special invitation or “wild card” from the organizers. In two groups of five teams each, the duos are fighting for the first three places in the group, with six teams continuing the fight in the “play-off” tournament.
In both 2022 and 2023, the Latvian duet finished the final tournament in seventh place.
