Mohammedan Sporting Club started Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) with victory. The traditional black and white club blew away the Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club in their second match with Imrul Kayes-Ariful Islam’s century.
Rupganj won the toss and sent Mohammedan to bat in BKSP on Friday. The team scored 266 runs for 5 wickets with two centuries. Rupganj were all out for 182 runs for 9 wickets. Mohammedan left the field with a victory of 84 runs.
Mahfizul Islam Robin fought alone with the bat for Rupganj. He scored 78 runs off 113 balls. No other batter could keep Robin company. The second highest 25 runs came from the bat of Salman Hossain Imon and Manik Khan.
Abu Haider Rony took maximum 4 wickets for Mohammedan. Naeem Hasan took 3 wickets. Nasum Ahmed and Ariful Islam took 1 wicket each.
Before this, Imrul was playing at one end from the start. At the other end, wickets were falling at regular intervals. Roni Talukder (0), Mahidul Islam Dakhna (5) and Rubel Miara (6) returned to Sajghar before reaching double figures. Now Imrul started moving forward with Ariful. A pair of 176 runs took the game into their own hands.
This pair broke when Imrul returned for 106 off 127 balls. Ariful on the other end remains steadfast. He left the field unbeaten after scoring 115 runs off 106 balls. He won the man of the match award. Ariful Haque scored 12 runs off 8 balls at the end. Abdullah Al Mamun took maximum 2 wickets for Rupganj.
