Azerbaijan is rich in natural resources, but the country faces serious climate challenges.
As Day.Az reports, the manager for sustainable development said this COP29 Fatima Fatalieva at the conference “Sustainable Future. Youth Green Innovation” as part of the Baku Climate Action Week.
According to her, startups based on sustainable development technologies can help Azerbaijan overcome climate challenges.
“Startups can solve these [климатические] problems and at the same time help to develop new markets and opportunities. For example, the government supports the green initiative by offering various incentives to businesses that prioritize sustainability. This creates favorable conditions for innovation and prosperity of startups,” said F. Fatalieva.
She emphasized that if entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan can focus their ideas on renewable energy sources (RES), they will be able to gain a competitive advantage in the market.
“By focusing on areas such as renewable energy sources, sustainable agriculture, green production, startups can not only contribute to environmental sustainability, but also gain a competitive advantage,” concluded the COP29 sustainability manager.
