Cristina Gonzalo, Miss Grand International Guatemala 2024better known as «Tokyo Gonzalo» has been highlighted in the top 10 National Costumes nominated to win this year’s title. With the “Jaguar sentinel of the forest” costume, the Guatemalan represented the beauty of Guatemala’s fauna, allowing her to be one of the 5 finalists chosen by the public, the only one from Latin America.

In addition to the costume of the representative of Guatemala, the candidates from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Honduras, Ecuador and Malaysia stand out among the 10 best national costumes, the last five being the delegates selected by the jury.

With the top 10 defined, 5 candidates chosen by the judges and 5 chosen by the public, the winner of the award for Best National Costume, Best National Costume de Miss Grand International 2024will be announced during the final gala that will be held on Friday, October 25, at 6:00 am, Guatemala time.

Miss Grand International is a beauty pageant founded in 2013 in Thailand, which highlights not only physical beauty, but also the skills and abilities of the modern woman. This year, the competition brings together 23 delegates from various countries around the world, celebrating talent, confidence and female empowerment.

The national costume competition took place last Sunday, October 20. During the gala, Tokyo Gonzalo wore the “Forest Sentinel Jaguar” costume, which symbolizes the role of this feline, which with its fierce and majestic spirit is a protector and watchman of the jungle. The outfit incorporates the quetzal, Guatemala’s national bird, in its design, representing the richness of Guatemalan fauna.

As commented during the competition, “this outfit, intricately designed with elements that reflect the lush and wild beauty of the forest, celebrates the powerful presence and natural majesty of one of the most revered guardians of the forest.”

Cristina Gonzalo, 20, is an English-Spanish translator and has achieved an outstanding career as a model, walking for renowned international designers on catwalks in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, ​​New York, Los Angeles and Milan.

Her path to Miss Grand International 2024 began in March, when the call for Miss Guatemala was opened, a pageant that selects the country’s representatives for Miss World, Miss International and Miss Grand International. Gonzalo, daughter of a Guatemalan mother and Spanish father, represented the department of Sacatepéquez and was crowned Miss Grand Guatemala at the gala held on May 1, 2024.

During her participation in Thailand, the Guatemalan has stood out among the candidates most voted for by the public, in the top 10 of Best in Swimsuit and among the 16 delegates of the Country’s Power of the Year ranking. We wish you all the luck in the grand final on Friday, October 25!
