Guri Melby to Visit Lillehammer: Focus on Cyber Defense, Film Education, and Healthcare Challenges

by time news

On Monday, October 28, Guri Melby will visit Lillehammer to meet with the university and Cyber Defense at Jørstadmoen. Additionally, she will hold a meeting with Tyrili, following the loss of their contract with Helse Sør-Øst.

Cyber Defense – Jørstadmoen

We want to learn more about Cyber Defense and the activities of the Cyber Engineering School, as well as the planned developments at Jørstadmoen and the camp’s significance for total defense in Norway.

Guri Melby is a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in the Storting and is a strong and clear voice regarding defense policy. We in Lillehammer Venstre would like to make her better acquainted with Cyber Defense at Jørstadmoen.

We live in an uneasy world and see that data attacks are becoming increasingly frequent, more extensive, and more advanced. They target both public authorities and the business sector. Various states or different groups may be behind these attacks. This means it is crucial to invest more in building and developing Cyber Defense.

The main seat of Cyber Defense in Norway is located at Jørstadmoen. They have skilled employees who perform a very necessary job for the safety of our country. They uncover and stop hacking, data attacks, and other digital threats. They also contribute technology that can strengthen our operational defense capability.

For many years, Venstre has been active in emphasizing that this unit plays a vital role in the national defense effort, and we want Guri Melby on board to strengthen and develop Cyber Defense at Jørstadmoen for the future.

The Cyber Engineering School is also located at Jørstadmoen. Here, new employees are trained for this important service.

Additionally, we have the Norwegian Centre for Information Security, located in Gjøvik, which works on information security for the private sector. There is cooperation between these units, and together they constitute a strong and resourceful professional environment in this area in our region.

The Inland University of Applied Sciences – Film and TV Programs

Lillehammer Venstre is committed to ensuring that the national film and TV education at the Inland University of Applied Sciences’ campus in Lillehammer has favorable conditions for further development.

The Norwegian Film School’s artistic bachelor programs offer an intensive 3-year education in film and related audiovisual art forms, focusing on developing each filmmaker’s artistic individuality and collaborative skills. (inn.no)

There has been a discussion about moving the campus in Lillehammer from its current location at Storhove to new premises in the city center. The government has said no to the move, despite the premises being poorly suited for future development.

BaneNOR’s plans to establish a Science Park in the station area should open opportunities for film and TV programs to develop new, modern facilities, in connection with IKT and tech companies that wish to relocate. Large companies like Eidsiva Bredbånd, Norkart, Hafslund Eco, and others have shown interest in the plans.

New criteria for study financing are also challenging for the arts disciplines. From being the highest priority in today’s financing system, it will yield lower results for these studies starting in 2025. It will be demanding for the Inland University to compensate for the reduction in state funding by, for example, deprioritizing other faculties.

By visiting the university, focusing on the film and TV education programs, we aim to show Guri Melby how the government’s education policy poses challenges to the continued operation of state-important education offerings.

Tyrili Center – Loss of Contract with the Health Enterprise

The treatment unit for substance abuse in Lillehammer is one of the ten treatment units run by the non-profit foundation in Norway.

The unit offers round-the-clock treatment in a communal setting for adults with severe substance addiction.

The location is shielded and peaceful, while also being close to the city’s amenities.

Tyrili in Lillehammer had an agreement with Helse Sør-Øst. In the latest allocation round, Tyrili in Lillehammer lost its contract with Helse Sør-Øst, and the future for 25 patient places and 25 employees is highly uncertain.

Lillehammer Venstre is disappointed that the allocation does not place more emphasis on the quality and competence built up in Lillehammer.

There is a centralization effect affecting this user group as well, where a diversity of treatment options across the country should be an advantage. Lillehammer Venstre wishes to invite Guri Melby to ask the health minister about the practice of contract allocation.
