Thiruvananthapuram – Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said that the suspect arrested in the case of abduction of a two-year-old girl in Petta is a habitual criminal. The commissioner informed that the accused’s name is Hassan Kutty and he is an accused in many cases including POCSO. The commissioner also explained the manner in which the accused abducted the child. The Commissioner stated that POCSO will be charged against the accused and if it is found that he is covered up, he will be charged with attempted murder.

“The accused is a vagrant. Chaka got off the train and walked towards the airport. He drank charcoal water from there. Stopped at the bus stop for a while. The accused said that he saw the child then. He took the child and tried to harm him. She told the police that she covered her mouth when she cried and left the child as she became scared. “One person has given a lift to the accused from Chaka,” said the commissioner.
The police concluded that the accused abducted the child between 12 midnight and 1 am. “The accused was caught from a small shop in Kollam. If you see the accused, you will look like a local resident. The records have an address in Ayrur area. But the accused says that his parents brought him here from Gujarat when he was young. The accused has no relationship with the parents. “The accused has a criminal mentality,” said the commissioner.
The commissioner explained that the accused was reached after checking more than 100 CCTV footages. About eight cases including POCSO are under his name. He was released from Kollam jail on January 12. In 2022, there was an incident where the girl was harassed by calling her saying that she would give her sweets. He was in jail in that case. There are many cases against him like housebreaking, auto theft, theft by entering a temple. He is not related to anyone. He is a wanderer. As he does not have a proper address, he wandered in many places for the accused,” said the commissioner.
On the 18th of last month, the child went missing while he was sleeping with his parents and siblings on the roadside in Chaka. After searching for more than 19 hours, the child was found abandoned in a river more than six feet deep, 500 meters away. This is the child of natives of Bihar who came to Kerala to sell honey. The child slept with his parents and 3 brothers.
