Martyrdom awaits you!.
The Gazans naturally didn’t listen to him: they moved away and took the bombs anyway. Perhaps thinking he had not been clear enough, and perhaps foreseeing the final attack, Haniyeh reappeared on pan-Arab TV Al Mayadden on Thursday and made it even worse: I said it before and I repeat it: the blood of women, children and the elderly … I’m not telling you that this blood needs you. I say that we are the only ones who need this blood, so as to awaken within us the revolutionary spirit, the resolve, the challenge. And push us to move forward!.
Let’s arm ourselves and die. Long live martyrdom. Of the others, however: like Khaled Meshaal, his successor, Dr. Haniyeh divides his time between Turkey, Lebanon and Qatar. Since 2019 he has lived in a deluxe apartment in Doha – You stay in the air conditioning and invite the people of Gaza to jihad…, the protest last week from a TV journalist from Al Arabiya – and he is fighting his personal battle with the emir of Qatar, Al Thani, who is fed up with international pressure and would like to evict the entire Hamas leadership.
Not just the human shield strategy, Israel says, hiding in hospital basements. What Haniyeh invokes is a specific martyr’s duty engraved in the Gaza constitution. In a few months, assuming it still exists, Hamas will celebrate its first shahid in Zionist land, that is, its first suicide bomber: a change of strategy that led the Islamic movement, in ’94, to abandon the traditional intifada of the tanzim (militiamen) and to transform anyone into a martyr. We need your blood, not an over-the-top order: Hamas, the 1988 statute already said in article 8, has Allah as its purpose, the Prophet as its head, the Koran as its constitution, jihad as its method and death, to the glory of Allah as the dearest desire.
Haniyeh’s rant hits the West, not those who listen to TV like Al Mayadeen: founded in Beirut eleven years ago, financed by Iran, directed by a relative of the Syrian dictator Assad, it keeps one of its three permanent correspondence offices in Tehran and every day, in the flagship program A window on Palestine, it sends reports entitled The Shoah, a great deception, or Why the end of the Jews is certain… In 2014, the Israelis discovered in Gaza the greatest Hamas tunnel: 2.4 km long, 30 meters deep, 800 tons of reinforced concrete with electricity and wifi, cost 10 million dollars. It doesn’t matter, even then admonished Haniyeh on TV: We have many more. And if they are not enough, we have the blood of our children….
