Hathras News: Rape accused jailed after 12 years, teenage girl was kidnapped and raped – court sentenced accused of rape in Hathras

Hathras: In a 12-year-old case in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh, the accused have been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment and fine. The accused had lured the girl and kidnapped her and had raped her by intoxicating her.

On May 16, 2012, a 16-year-old girl, resident of a village in Kotwali Hathras Gate area, was abducted by Kanhaiya, a resident of village Darkai of Chandpa area, along with some of his associates. Kanhaiya was supposed to visit this girl’s house. During this time, the accused had made the girl unconscious by inhaling intoxicating substance and then raped her. At that time the victim’s father had given an application to the SP.

A case was registered in the case on the orders of the SP at Hathras Gate Kotwali. The police recovered the girl and got her medically examined. The girl had told the police that Kanhaiya and his associates took her to many places and raped her. After investigation, the police had filed a charge sheet in the court in this case against Kanhaiya’s other associate Dinesh alias Kali, Sanjay resident of Kakori police station Chandpa, Ram Gopal alias Gopal, Naveen resident of Darkai police station Chandpa.

The fine amount will have to be paid to the victim

The case was heard in the court of Special Judge SC-ST Act Rampratap Singh. After hearing the cross-examination of both the parties, the court found Kanhaiya, Dinesh alias Kali and Ram Gopal guilty in this case. The other two accused Sanjay and Naveen were acquitted by the court. The court has sentenced all three convicts to 20-20 years imprisonment and fine. If they do not pay the fine, they will have to undergo additional imprisonment. The court has also said in its order that the total amount of fine will be payable to the victim. The prosecution was represented by ADGC Dinesh Yadav.
