The costs for Stein Lier-Hansen’s relationship building during the period 2015–2023 add up to NOK 18.2 million. This is shown in an overview Norsk Industri has published on their websites on Friday evening.

Of this, NOK 10.7 million is directly related to hunting and fishing as an arena for relationship building.

The overview shows the costs for relational activity at, among other things, a hunting area and a cabin at Dargesjå on Hardangervidda, in addition to seaplane transport to and from the area.

The relationship activities have also been carried out elsewhere, it appears.

Norwegian industry spent millions on hunting and seaplanes

E24 has asked Stein Lier-Hansen for a comment on the overview:

– Here it is taken with a grain of salt, far beyond what is connected to what is now the topic. I have used seaplanes in connection with completely different assignments, i.e. in the middle of the summer to attend or attend various meetings and lectures, etc., writes Lier-Hansen in a message to E24.

– I now need time to understand what is in the figures year by year.

2.3 million on seaplanes

The overview shows that Lier-Hansen’s annual costs for hunting and fishing averaged NOK 1.2 million a year.

“The remaining amount, which was also used for other types of relationship activity, is NOK 833,958. In total, the average was approx. NOK 2 million a year for relationship building in the broadest sense,” the report says.

Since 2015, Norsk Industri alone has spent over NOK 2.3 million on seaplanes, the overview shows.

Former chairman: – Completely unknown to me

Chairman Ståle Kyllingstad of Norsk Industri told E24 on Thursday that the organization had spent NOK 1.1 million for renting the area and the cabin in the period between 2015 and 2022.

In addition, they spent NOK 1.3 million on seaplanes to and from the area between 2019 and 2023, Kyllingstad stated yesterday.

Kyllingstad has so far not responded to E24’s inquiries on Friday evening.

Norsk Industri writes in its update that they do not choose to share who has participated in these trips.

“For the sake of the participants, who have not consented to or been asked for their participation to be made public, we believe it would be wrong to share this overview”.

The current board says they did not know

On Thursday, E24 wrote that between 2015 and autumn 2023 Norsk Industri rented an exclusive hunting ground on Hardangervidda. The agreement included a cabin and hunting license for wild reindeer. Norsk Industri’s guests from home and abroad were picked up by seaplane.

The then director Stein Lier-Hansen handled the tenancy and the visits. He also had private hunting trips with friends and family on the property.

Chairman Ståle Kyllingstad told E24 on Thursday that the current board was not aware of the agreement, and that he asked for it to be stopped immediately when it became known to them in the autumn.

Lier-Hansen tells E24 that he believes the use of the area was “completely within”, and that the administration of Norsk Industri was aware of the lease agreement
