BOLZANO. Even in our Province, unfortunately, requests for help are almost the order of the day following which the State Police is called to intervene urgently to deal with situations of gender violence or mistreatment in the family.

Yesterday, Friday 25 October, the Flying Squad of the Bolzano Police Headquarters carried out the precautionary measure of the approach and contact ban issued by the Judge for the Preliminary Investigations of the Court against this MF, 36 year old Tunisian citizen legal on national territory and with specific precedents against him for crimes such as mistreatment in the family, sexual violence, threats and persecutory acts against his ex-partner.

Specifically, a few days ago, the offended party – a Moroccan citizen of the same age as her ex-partner – had filed a detailed complaint against the Tunisian, to whom she had been linked in a romantic relationship in the recent past.

The victim, in his story to the police officers specialized in crimes falling under the “red code”, had reported how since the beginning of their relationship the man had maintained a violent attitude towards him, often raising his hands and even threatening her with death in front of her children; on one occasion, however, the victim had been forced to undergo sexual intercourse.

After the woman found the courage to escape from the spiral of violence, with the consequent decision to leave her tormentor and report him to the police, the situation had worsened further in recent days: the man, in fact, was not resigned to as things were evolving against him, he approached the victim again, even going so far as to threaten her with a gun.

Following the victim’s complaint, the Bolzano investigating judge therefore decided to issue a precautionary order which prohibits the man from approaching his ex-partner and her family within 500 metres. Yesterday, therefore, the agents of the Bolzano Flying Squad proceeded to carry it out, also applying to the persecutor the “electronic bracelet”, in order to control the movements of the latter in real time.

For the same reasons, the police commissioner of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori ordered the revocation of his residence permit against him, in order to then proceed with his expulsion from the national territory.

“There are more and more cases in which the police forces are called to intervene to deal with serious episodes of gender violence, which in themselves represent, among other things, worrying expressions of cultural problems, which too often affect victims unable to defend themselves – highlighted the commissioner Sartori –. This episode further reinforces the idea of how the critical situations that afflict our society must necessarily be addressed by networking between institutions, local authorities, anti-violence centers and voluntary associations. The State Police has always been at the forefront, even with specific projects, in indicating paths of awareness and awareness of the negative value of what has been committed, with the aim, also, of helping victims to defend themselves, to ask for help and to report the violence suffered.”
