Jeddah: Saudi Rain Alert: Underpasses closed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia due to heavy rain. The Makkah Governorate Disaster Management Committee has informed that travelers should take alternative routes. The underpasses at Alsalam, Alzaria, Al-Andulus and King Abdullah Roads turning to Medina Road, King Abdullah Road turning to King Fahd Road, and Ameer Majid Road and Palestine Road are closed.

The authorities have asked people to stay at home till the rain ends and avoid traveling through waterlogged areas. Also, the Jeddah Airport Authority has informed that today’s air passengers should contact the respective airlines and go to the airport only after re-checking the schedule.

No accidents have been reported due to the rain. Field officers have been deployed in all 16 sub-municipalities of Jeddah. Water is being pumped away from flooded roads. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Center has warned that rain will continue till evening.

Meanwhile, due to the possibility of heavy rain in different parts of Saudi Arabia, some schools have been declared closed today. The weather department had earlier warned that there is a chance of rain and on the basis of this the school holiday was announced.
