Heavy rain, waterlogging in Bengaluru: 14 flights diverted

Bengaluru: Waterlogging in various parts of Bengaluru due to heavy rain. As many as 14 flights at Kempegowda International Airport were diverted and several flights were delayed due to the rain. Airport officials said that strong winds, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning affected operations at the airport from 4.05 pm to 4.51 pm.

12 flights were diverted to Chennai, one to Coimbatore and another to Hyderabad. Seven Indigo, three Vistara, two Akasha Airlines, one GoAir and one Air India flights were diverted. Six flights were also delayed. It is reported that operations at the airport have resumed.

Areas around the airport and areas like Varthur, Sarjapura, Whitefield, Marathalli and Bellantur reported heavy rainfall. Nallurhalli metro station also got waterlogged due to heavy rain.
