New documentation from the moments of the attack in New York – when an ISIS terrorist ran over 8 people to death

Saypolo Saipov raced onto a bike path and killed eight people, then crashed into a school bus – and finally got out of his truck with two fake guns and confronted the police

Newly released videos show the chaotic moments from 2017 when terrorist Saifulu Saifov confronted and was shot by New York police officers – shortly after he accelerated the truck he was driving into a bike lane and killed eight people.

The dramatic footage, released after it was introduced as evidence by federal prosecutors at a trial in Manhattan, shows Saifov, who was inspired by ISIS, running down the West Side Expressway with what appeared to be a gun in each hand.

As he approached Chambers Street, the suspect, dressed in a blue tracksuit, can be seen pointing the weapon at a police officer – who fires a flurry of bullets at him, eventually incapacitating him.

In his opening statement from last week, Assistant US Attorney Alexander Lee described the scene on the streets of New York, which was reportedly recorded by passers-by or people watching from nearby buildings.

He told the jury how after crashing into the cyclists on October 31, 2017, he got out of the Home Depot truck he was renting, then brandished two weapons – a paintball gun and an air gun – while declaring his allegiance to radical Islam.

“The defendant brought two fake weapons, which looked real. He grabbed them and jumped out of his truck screaming ‘Allah Akbar,’ a phrase that other ISIS operatives also used when carrying out terrorist attacks,” he told me. “A New York police officer ran toward the defendant, that aimed to pass a gun. The policeman shot and hit the defendant, who fell to the ground.”

Other stills released by prosecutors show the horrific scene of the attack, such as crushed bicycles the victims were riding on, as well as the truck Seifov was driving, which was almost completely destroyed after he collided with a school bus.

Lee noted in his opening statement that a child who was riding in the vehicle at the time, “suffered severe brain damage” as a result of the accident. A woman who was in the car suffered a liver injury, broken ribs and a fractured spine.

The officer who shot Seifov, Detective Ryan Nash, testified last week that he fired nine shots at the suspect, hitting him once in the lower body.

The terrorist, as mentioned a supporter of the Islamic State organization, was rushed to the hospital – where he underwent surgery. After he recovered, he gave an interview to the FBI, where he testified that he was happy about the attack and even asked to hang an ISIS flag in his hospital room.

Saifov is now facing 28 counts for a terrorist attack, and if convicted he could face the death penalty.
