The controversy continues. A week after the homophobic chants heard in the aisles of the Parc des Princes at the end of the Classic won 4-0 by PSG against OM on September 24, Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, reacted in an interview with the AFP. Noël Le Graët’s successor invited supporters to “show more imagination”.

“We must condemn this type of comments. I invite them to renew their repertoire because this type of talk is no longer in keeping with the society in which we live. I think you can support your team in a more positive way,” he added.

Asked about the need to stop the match in the event of homophobic chants, as the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra had requested on Thursday, the president of the FFF was less affirmative, without excluding the principle. “You have to do it with discernment, so as not to put yourself in the hands of people who have bad intentions in the stands,” he explains. Diallo also announced that specific initiatives on the fight against homophobia would be taken in October, in partnership with associations specializing in the subject.

Summoned by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), PSG will be heard during its next session on Thursday October 5.
