AF Hasan Arif, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and Lands, said that in the past years, poor people’s houses have been demolished in the name of eviction of illegal squatters around the river. But next to these houses, huge buildings are still standing in Birdarp.
He also said that most of the domestic workers of the capital live in the areas which have been broken in the name of eviction. It is not right to evict like this, it affects their economy.
He said these things to Sudhibrind, who was present at the seminar entitled Blue Network Around Dhaka City at the Pani Bhavan in Caravanbazar, Dhaka, on Wednesday (October 9).

Hasan Arif said, we have formed a committee by coordinating experts. Our first task will be to identify the problem based on their suggestions. Then find a solution. As we know, proper rules and regulations are not followed in road construction. We need to collectively start the action plan now. Decisions should be taken after scrutinizing the recommendations coming from the expert circles
Adilur Rahman, advisor to the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Housing and Public Works said that canals, rivers and canals in Dhaka city have become blocked in a situation that we never expected. The eviction drive of the illegal occupants should be initiated If we cannot recover the rivers and canals from the illegal encroachers, then the people will not see the results of the uprising in July-August. For this, I will do what is necessary from the ministry
